A firm of chartered accountants based in South Sheffield is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their firm.

The appointee will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records for the firm’s clients and ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, typically these will be owner managed businesses up to the 2m turnover mark.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to join a reputable firm, we are open to considering applicants with either a background working in an accountancy practice or in industry provided you have good knowledge of VAT compliance and ideally experience using Xero accounts package.

This could be a full-time position or perhaps a four day per week role, with hybrid working arrangements available where sought (3 days in the office, 2 days from home).

Main duties of the role:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for a portfolio of clients, including processing invoices, receipts and payments
Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC deadlines, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations.
Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information, answer queries, and provide advice on VAT-related matters.
Use of a variety of software, predominantly Xero, but also Sage and Quickbooks.

Salary: £24,000 – £26,000
