Interim Financial Controller
A diverse and growing business group, with trading entities across a range of sectors, is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to join their leadership team on a 4-month contract. This is a key role providing full responsibility for financial reporting, audit, cashflow management, and driving efficiencies across the group.
The successful candidate will oversee a small finance team and work closely with the Group Managing Director and senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making and ensure the financial health of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead preparation of year-end accounts and manage the audit process across multiple entities.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and statutory obligations.
- Review and distribute monthly management accounts within agreed timelines.
- Oversee quarterly VAT returns and ensure accurate, timely submission.
- Manage and support a small finance team, fostering collaboration and development.
- Maintain and update cashflow forecasts, identifying cost-saving initiatives.
- Enhance financial processes, reporting efficiency, and systems usage (Xero and ERP platforms).
- Act as a key point of contact for auditors, tax consultants, and banking partners.
- Provide clear, insightful financial reporting to the Group Managing Director and senior leadership.
Candidate Profile:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with several years’ post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, ideally within a multi-entity environment.
- Proven ability to lead, organise and prioritise effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in financial systems, particularly Xero and ERP platforms.
