Commercial Accountant
A new opportunity for a Commercial Accountant to join a growing organisation, working closely with both internal stakeholders and high-profile retail customers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment and enjoys turning data into meaningful insights to drive performance.
The Role:
Reporting into Finance but working just as closely with Sales and Operations, this is a highly visible position that plays a central role in improving margins and supporting business growth. You will be responsible for:
- Partnering with blue-chip customers (including leading supermarkets and online retailers) to understand their commercial requirements and finance models.
- Collaborating with operations and sales teams to analyse performance, identify opportunities, and provide insightful commentary.
- Building and adapting Excel-based models to reflect changing business needs and contract requirements.
- Feeding commercial insights into the management accounts team to highlight financial impacts and improve decision-making.
- Providing clear communication and professional gravitas when engaging with senior stakeholders such as Operations Directors, Sales Directors, and National Account Managers.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualified by experience (QBE) , part qualified or professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Strong Excel and data modelling skills, with the ability to translate analysis into actionable insights.
- Proven experience of stakeholder management.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels.
- Excellent communicator — able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and build strong relationships across departments.
- Relaxed, approachable, and confident, with the ability to adapt to ambiguity and manage peaks and troughs of activity.
