Assistant Management Accountant
Our client is an established manufacturing business supplying products into the home improvement and construction market. The company has a strong presence in its sector and offers a stable working environment with an established finance team.
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team. This is a varied role combining management accounting with transactional finance. You will support the monthly accounts process and balance sheet control while also getting involved in the everyday transactional work of the department. The role would suit someone who is AAT qualified and looking to broaden their experience, with study support available towards ACCA or CIMA.
Responsibilities
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments
- Support purchase ledger and sales ledger processing
- Assist with bank reconciliations and payment processing
- Maintain accurate general ledger records
- Support credit control and supplier account reconciliations where required
- Assist with fixed asset accounting
- Provide support with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Work across transactional finance and management accounting as required
Candidate Profile
- AAT qualified as a minimum
- Previous experience in a varied accounts or finance role
- Experience of transactional finance alongside exposure to management accounts
- Good understanding of balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Experience of journals, accruals and prepayments
- Comfortable using Excel and accounting systems
- Looking to develop broader management accounting experience
- ACCA or CIMA studier or someone looking to start further study would be well suited
Package and Working Pattern This is a permanent position based in the Wakefield area within an established finance team. Study support towards ACCA or CIMA is available for someone looking to continue their professional qualifications.
A start at short notice can be accommodated, making this a good option for someone who is immediately available or able to move quickly.
Progression and Key Selling Points The role offers a good balance between transactional accounting and management accounts rather than being focused purely on the monthly reporting cycle. It should provide a useful next step for someone who has developed a solid grounding in finance and now wants to take on more responsibility.
There is scope to develop further management accounting experience over time with ACCA or CIMA study support available to help progress towards qualification.
