Direct Tax Accountant
Our client is a leading UK financial services business with a strong reputation in the insurance sector. Established and stable, they offer a supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth. This role is ideal for a qualified tax professional looking to broaden their experience within a reputable organisation.
Reporting to the Direct & Employment Tax Manager, you will manage direct tax provisions, support UK tax compliance, and liaise with finance teams across the business. The role offers exposure to a variety of tax functions, process improvement initiatives, and strategic decision support. This is a fixed term contract for a period of 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare direct tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for statutory accounts
- Finalise tax computations for HMRC submission and respond to tax queries
- Post monthly tax charges and produce consolidated tax reporting
- Reconcile direct tax balance sheets and monitor issues
- Collaborate with finance teams to analyse data and identify process improvements
- Support forecasting of effective tax rates and Payments on Account
Candidate Profile
- Chartered tax or accountancy qualification (CIOT, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- 5+ years post-qualification in an in-house tax or Big 4 environment
- Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation tax and tax accounting
- Proficient in Excel and data analysis; Oracle experience desirable
- Self-motivated with excellent communication and teamwork skills
Package & Benefits
- Salary £60,000–£80,000 depending on experience
