Our client is a growing SME based in North Yorkshire seeking an experienced Interim Finance Manager to provide hands on financial leadership during a period of change. This is a three month assignment with flexibility to be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the successful candidate’s availability.
Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring business continuity while maintaining robust financial controls and supporting operational decision-making. This is a varied role suited to an experienced finance professional who is comfortable working independently within a fast-paced SME environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the finance function.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow, forecasting and working capital.
- Supervise purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control activities.
- Complete VAT returns and ensure statutory compliance.
- Oversee payroll and associated reporting where required.
- Maintain financial controls and improve finance processes where appropriate.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors and other professional advisers.
- Support senior management with financial analysis and commercial insight.
- Ensure a smooth handover at the end of the interim assignment.
Candidate profile:
- Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience accountant.
- Previous experience in an Interim Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.
- Strong SME finance experience with the ability to manage a broad workload.
- Confident producing management accounts and overseeing transactional finance.
- Able to work autonomously and quickly establish effective working relationships.
- Practical, organised and adaptable with excellent communication skills.
- Available to commence the assignment at short notice or within a reasonable timeframe.
Package and working pattern:
- Initial three-month interim contract.
- Flexible opportunity available on either a full-time or part-time basis.
- Salary Depending on experience – c.£45,000 – £60,000
