How to make the recruitment process go smoothly from interview to offer stage!

    Clients… this one’s for you!

It’s no secret that recruitment is becoming increasingly competitive, with more firms eager to add the best talent to their existing teams. Below I have highlighted the key things you can do to attract candidates at the offer stage, and how you can ensure the process goes smoothly for yourselves and the candidates.

    1. Firstly, use a recruitment agency. Of course, I was going to say this, but it will really help your process. We have access to hundreds of relevant candidates that might not be actively looking, but with the right opportunity they could be tempted to move.
    2. Now here comes the tips for interview and offer stage. If you are interested in a candidate, schedule the interview quickly and don’t leave it days until you reply. Get the meeting locked in and confirmed, to ensure you have the chance to meet with the individual. As we say, time kills deals!
    3. Remember, an interview is a conversation, not an interrogation.
      • When interviewing, make sure you give an honest overview of the role as this will ensure that anyone who joins the team, will be comfortable with their duties.
      • Use the interview as an opportunity to showcase the firm and its benefits, and a tour of the office can be a nice way to round off the interview and show the candidate you are interested in them.
    4. If you say you are going to give feedback by the end of the week, do it! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, recruitment is competitive, it is likely that your candidate is going to have other options and offers, so make sure you give feedback when you said you will, otherwise the candidate might lose hope.
    5. When making an offer, make the best offer you can at the time. Waiting to see what other firms offer and then re-offering at a higher amount will not make you look better, if anything, it slows the process and makes the candidate question why you didn’t offer that amount in the first place. Always offer what you are comfortable with, and don’t encourage a bidding war.
    6. If a candidate accepts your offer, make sure you promptly send the offer letter to them so they can get their resignation handed in and start working their notice. The longer you take to send them the offer letter, the longer you will have to wait for them to start. It will also make the candidate feel anxious if you delay things and they might worry about the security of this role.

Overall, recruitment can be stressful, but using an agency will make this process go smoothly as we will deal with all the scheduling, candidate contact and sourcing on your behalf, all you need to do is have a great interview!
